Don Hubbard recently completed serving as Chair for the Island Health’s Board of Directors and was appointed in November 2010 and served for 7 years. He is currently the president of Hubbard Consulting Ltd., a resource and construction industry consulting company. Prior to this he worked with Lafarge Canada Inc and Warren Materials Group of Canada for 44 years, retiring as General Manager of the Lafarge Canada, Vancouver Island North West Division in 2009.
Don is presently a director of the Vancouver Island University international high school, past director and board chair for the Vancouver Island University (2001-2007), director for Vancouver Island University Foundation, a member of the Nanaimo Haven Society. Nation Director and British Columbia Board Chair of Ducks Unlimited Canada 2006-2015.
Starting school in Lakeside Oregon and after moving multiple times Graduated in Nanaimo. An alumnus of Malaspina College and BCIT, Don returned to university in 2009 to study Anthropology and Archeology. In 2011 Don enrolled at SFU to obtain an ICD designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and graduated on May 6, 2012. In 2006 Don became a Paul Harris Fellow through the Nanaimo Day Break Club and 2007 he received the Nanaimo Citizen of the Year award for community service.
Don is married to his wife Lynne (51 years) and lives in Nanaimo.
